Throwback Thursday...waaaaay back

Today I rewind back to late 2013. I had just moved to Carrboro with 2 roommates, Brendan and Ian. They asked me one day if I wanted to come along with them to play this thing called disc golf. At the time, I had no clue what that was. Thinking back on it now, I am so glad they asked because I don't know what I would be doing most days without disc golf in my life!

I played on and off with them for a while and slowly started falling in love with the sport of disc golf. My first disc that I don't even remember where it came from was a base plastic Spider. I was a one disc man back then, threw it off the tee, for upshots 1 through 20!!!!, and putted with it too. I actually still have it now (pictured) but don't bag it anymore. If you look reaaaally closely at that picture, you can see the faded "Spider" at the bottom and you can see a few legs in the center! It wasn't long until I expanded my collection a bit. I remember loving the Katana and Boss for straight throwing and major hooking drivers respectively. A buzzz somehow fell into my hands back then too and I have bagged one ever since (in fact "Petey's disc" is one of my OG buzzzes!).

I didn't get into PDGA disc golf, competitive play, and tournaments until late into 2020. Before then, it was a round of disc golf, a few rounds of beers, and just hangin out with the boys. Nowadays, I find that I miss those kinds of rounds here and there. So if you ever want just a chill, beer round, hit me up!
