Star Frame Showdown Finale: The Hornet's Nest Open
Sunday September 12th was an absolutely gorgeous day to be out playing disc golf in Charlotte at the famous Hornet's Nest. In the finale of the Star Frame Showdown, players brought their A-game to battle the trees, nail fun lines, and occasionally throw a bomber hole. The iconic island hole was a highlight of the day as it always tests the nerves and separates the bold from the others. Kevin Duke here again to recap all the fun. It was a treat for me during the second round to watch Tyler W tear it up in MPO with a well played round to secure the trophy and the money. In advanced, the young local boy Cooper H shot the hot round of the day to nab himself a trophy as well. Matthew T ran the show in MA40 shooting 50+ points over his rating. Joseph S snuck out the win in the intermediate division, grabbing the trophy with a 1 stroke victory. Over half the total field played in the rec division and they had some battles out there. There was a three way tie for 2nd place but after finishing round 1 in 12th place, Austin R shot his face off in round 2 with a round almost 100 points over his rating to steal the first place trophy! Way to go all of the winners and thanks to everyone who came out to play. We hope to see you at some of next year's stops!
